Black sequin hat from Atmosphere.

Atmosphere is the label of clothing and accessories from Primark. Primark sells affordable clothing. 

The black sequin hat was elasticated. The elastic had gone. I pinned it in two places at the front. I pinned on the opposite side to the label which was sewn into a seam. Then I sewed a tuck, using black cotton. A quick job.

I didn't want it too tight. That would be uncomfortable. Distracting. Might give me a headache. Or make me take it off.

Was it tight enough? A good test is to lean forward and see whether the hat falls off your head. 

What to wear it with?

The Black & White and red blouse

The blouse label is Gallery.

It is a summer blouse, short sleeves, white background. But the black and red pattern means you can wear it with black skirts and shoes and accessories.

Sleeves

The sleeves are not separate. Under the arm they are loose. The seam is under the arms. The sleeves are short.

Buttons

The blouse has five buttons down the front centre. Each sleeve has one button. Fastening a dart which is just the edge pulled together, not sewn. No spare buttons. The buttons are shiny. They are circular, Flat domes with multiple facets.

Fabric

The material is matt. The care label says it is 100 per cent viscose. 

Hand wash. Iron on one.

The shoulder pads are fabric of the same material. They have worn flat.

The hem has four darts.

Size 

UK12. USA 10. Europe 38.


The Black Half Slip

I am wering a black half slip. The slit has been filled in with black stretch fabric cut from old underwear, with ribbons in satiny red and turquoise.

The Black Belt

The black belt is the hem from a long black Dorothy Perkins dress. I have pinned it with  hair slide which has a lrage red fabric bow.

The Sandals

The sandals are brand Softlites, size 4, bought second hand from Ebay. 

The sequinnd hat would be suitable for evening wear, with the satin effect skirt nad blet and bow. 

The matt blouse and  hook and loope sandals make the outfit suitable for daytimte.

What is this? My repair.  I have a lovely shiny, smart black slip, from Marks & Spencers. It has a slit with pretty lace edging.  But it is slightly tight. Blue H & M Dress, dress of the day 393

But I had a white blouse, so I wore this. On the internet and on Facebook you can see lots of videos of how to tie a scarf, but mine is simply hanging, which partly obscures the cleavage.  Cleavage cover I had a choice. To insert a dickey or false front, also called a removable or detachable collar. I have one or two which are plain white.  The alternative which saves hunting for a matching dickey without distracting collar colours and embrodiery, is simply to add a fastening. I decided that a snap or press stud fastener in small size is qhich to fasten and unlikely to pull apart (as opposed to hook and eye. Period Pants from Marks & Spencer & More, post 345

Period pants from Savida. Pants, UK. In the USA they would be called underpants. They come in two colours, black or dark blue with a mottled effect. They are triple layer. Could be useful for hiking and travelling. Or when you have a cough.  A pack of three full briefs for fifteen pounds. I then googled period pants and found lots of results.  Marks Marks & Spencer do a pack of three containing three different colours, black, white and pink, for sixteen pounds.  They also do different absorbencies. The options range though light, heavy, and extra heavy. And more styles, such as pantaloon style, like short tight shorts coming half way down your thighs.
