Back to Black, Thai Skirt and Principles Blouse, dress of the day 480

Black, I thought, back to black. Then I remembered that is the title of an Amy Winehouse song. She went back to black because she was depressed about the end of a relationship inspired by her real life on-off relationship. But I am happy and excited by my conveniently long, warm skirt and cute elephant decoration. Let's move back to the black clothes which I chose.

The Skirt0

 The long black Thai skirt has a metal elephant decoration sewn on above the front slit. The fabric is thick, so the long skirt is warm on a cold, wintery day. 

I love the elephants. They turn an everyday item, in thick cloth, into something unique and special, different, elegant. I hunted everywhere for these metal elephants which I have on tops, as well. No luck.

Somewhere I have a red top with three of the same buttons. They are not buttons. They are decorations which you sew on top of snaps (in the UK we say press studs.)

The Principles Blouse

The Principles blouse has a white silk yoke and white silk sleeves on a black knitwear body. 

Pleated Style

The cuffs and yoke have pleated edges,

Pearly White Buttons

The collar has two pearly white round shirt-size buttons. The buttons each have four holes surrounded by a raised flat rim.

Pretty but warm.

I also found blue and green tops with the same elephant button, times three, on ebay.

The green has been there for years.

The problem is that in the UK I also have to pay postage and tax, proportional to the original cost.

Period Pants from Marks & Spencer & More, post 345

Period pants from Savida. Pants, UK. In the USA they would be called underpants. They come in two colours, black or dark blue with a mottled effect. They are triple layer. Could be useful for hiking and travelling. Or when you have a cough.  A pack of three full briefs for fifteen pounds. I then googled period pants and found lots of results.  Marks Marks & Spencer do a pack of three containing three different colours, black, white and pink, for sixteen pounds.  They also do different absorbencies. The options range though light, heavy, and extra heavy. And more styles, such as pantaloon style, like short tight shorts coming half way down your thighs. Marks & Spencer coat reversed Post 409

If a coat has a label at the neck which shows, or one on the side seam, you could either cut it off or cover it with black ribbon sewn on. Some people, such as the royal family, are reputed to always include a funeral outfit in their packing in case it is needed. (I always pack a swimsuit, so as not to miss out, and an evening outfit, in case I get invited to a party or wedding or smart restaurant for dinner.)
