TRU blouse
The label says 'TRU blouse'. Size 42. Tru short for truth? Or the founders' initials? TRU dates back several decades. Their blouses were  costly, in a boutique clothes shop which is no longer in Hatch End. My late mother would take me shopping and indulge me, encouraging me to buy quality items with a good cut and delicate lace rather than cheap, simple braid.

Not to be confused with TU (meaning you in French) which is a label from the UK supermarket, Sainsbury's. If you want moderately priced, modern clothes, go for Tu.

The blouse is vintage. You cannot find TRU any more. What are the features you could look for in a similar blouse, or copy if you had a comercial dressmaker, or obliging sister or mother or daughter or friend, or craft and sewing group, or were handy at making clothes?

COLLAR
1 Circular collar.
2 Lace edging to collar.
3 Long pointed collar raised two inches making an arch from the neck level and sewn down flat at mid point. 

BUTTONS
4 Gold colour domed buttons.
5 Small press studs (British word - Americans call them snaps) on the wide cuffs to make them smaller.
 
Black Jacket & Skirt
The black jacket and skirt add to the formality. Contrast with the elaborate blouse collar. Good for an evening or special occasion. Or just to look pretty.

Black open front jacket or cardigan
The black background shows up the lace of the collar.

Long Black Skirt
The long black skirt adds warmth. I don't mean warm colour. I mean warm fabric for winter. 

The plain colour of the skirt keeps the focus on the fancy neckline. The attention getting neckline is good for on Zoom, or to emphasize the face, intellect, friendship, formalty, family, rather than sex and legs. 

Accessory/Prop

Nespresso white cup. Nespresso Collection Made in Portugal. My current favourite coffee cup. The handle combines a curve up to a horizontal line, a bit like the collar.

Period Pants from Marks & Spencer & More, post 345

Period pants from Savida. Pants, UK. In the USA they would be called underpants. They come in two colours, black or dark blue with a mottled effect. They are triple layer. Could be useful for hiking and travelling. Or when you have a cough.  A pack of three full briefs for fifteen pounds. I then googled period pants and found lots of results.  Marks Marks & Spencer do a pack of three containing three different colours, black, white and pink, for sixteen pounds.  They also do different absorbencies. The options range though light, heavy, and extra heavy. And more styles, such as pantaloon style, like short tight shorts coming half way down your thighs. Marks & Spencer coat reversed Post 409

If a coat has a label at the neck which shows, or one on the side seam, you could either cut it off or cover it with black ribbon sewn on. Some people, such as the royal family, are reputed to always include a funeral outfit in their packing in case it is needed. (I always pack a swimsuit, so as not to miss out, and an evening outfit, in case I get invited to a party or wedding or smart restaurant for dinner.)
