Rainbow Dress In Rayon - Success

With horizontal stripes you have to stand straight.
Our first attempt was lopsided.
I bought this dress in Thailand. It has no maker's label. I liked the rainbow pattern. It is jolly and can be matched with any one of the colours.
I like rainbows. I always have. Everybody likes rainbows. They are now a political statement. But so are all the component colours. What might the colours symbolise to form a discussion point and win you friends? In addition to happy memories of the hopeful song, 'Somewhere Over The Rainbow'?
The Colour Reminder
Red Orange Yellow Green Blue Indigo Violet. Read out your green book in verse. Richard of York gained battle in vain.
Red
Red, white and blue are the colours of the USA and UK flags.
Red and blue are political in New Zealand. Red for the Chinese as an auspicious colour.
Red is used for stop signs in the UK, as well as pillar box red.
Orange
Orange is political in Ireland. Orange, the colour of oranges. The middle colour of the traffic light.
Pumpkins and Halloween.
White
White is for Western brides, following Queen Victoria's eldest daughter's wedding dress. And the bridal car carrying the bride to the wedding. But white is not for brides in Asia because white is also for funeral shrouds in Asia.
White snow. White ice. White icing.
Black
Black is formal wear for a groom in the west. But also for funerals in Europe, and widows.
For youngsters, and the sophisticated, as well, the little black dress, can be a short cocktail dress.
Black is the colour of the traditional black taxi. And funeral cars.
Black for Halloween.
Red
Red (with white trim) is for Santa Claus. Red is the colour of the Red Cross.
Red for blood, warning, danger, traffic stop signs, aircraft signs flashing on airports and cranes, no entry.
Blue
Blue was the original colour with white, of the matelots, the sea, the sky. Sky blue. Navy blue.
Blue is for Grandfather Frost in Russia.
Blue is for Hanukah.
Disney Elsa.
Purple
In the old days purple was rare and expensive, exclusively used for royalty. It was also half mourning.
Pink
Pink is for little girls. (Blue for little boys.) In the 21st centrury.
But originally British soliders wore red uniforms to hide blood and be identifiable from a distance in battle. Then the reds of uniform faded to pink, so boys wore pink. Girls wore blue.
The British royals again set a new colour fashion. This time pink for girls and blue for boys.
I feel that nobody has the right to exclusive use of any colour. I wear vibrant colours because they suit my skin tone and eyes.
If you go to a professional colour agency they will show you which sets of colours suit you best, the vibrant colours, sometimes called summer colours or tropical colours, paler pastels or spring colours (although yellow daffodils and blue crocuses seem to span the seasons), the dusty autumn combinations or yellow, orange, green and brown. Black or white. Silver or gold.
Pink is popular with little girls. And big girls. Disney pink.
Trying Colours
You can try this yourself by looking in the mirror,
Buying Colours
In a shop, try holding clothes against the back of your hand or arm. Or use your camera to photograph yourself. Turn the camera photo mode to reverse, selfie mode on your camera to take yourself and inspect the results, comparing which of two colours suit you.
A shop assistant might feel obliged to recommend the dearest item out of loyalty to the shop owner, or for a commission.
A passer-by might confirm or disprove the assistant's or your family's view. Do they like the colour, or like the colour on you?
Colour Confusion
I just bought a blue item because I loved the muted denim blue colour. But the effect on me is grey blue and dull, nothing like a vivid royal blue, or vibrant red which suits me and makes me feel lively and happy and active.
Oddly, I have not lost any friends or potential friends because of the colours which might be considered political. On the contrary, reds bring an enthusiastic response from Singaporeans who say red is auspicious in Chinese, the festive colour, and one of the two colours of the Singapore national flag, red and white suitable for the month of August when the Singapore flag is displayed, before, during and after Singapore's national day of August 9th.
Rainbows bring me enthusiasm from strangers and friends who may consider I am signalling that I will be accepting some aspect of them which I know nothing about.
In other words, rainbows work well for me, matching all colours of clothes and all types of people.
