Blue blouse with big, bold, buttons dress of the day 341

Image
Blue blouse with big bold buttons. Photo by Angela Lansbury. The Blouse The blue blouse is labelled Global Kiwis. You can turn it inside out and keep the pockets concealed on the inside and be less conspicuous. The buttons The big buttons are a thin mother of pearl. The iridescent blue, white and pink co-ordinates with the colours of the blue blouse,. The blouse has a dark blue background with white and paler blue with touches of red to pink. The pattern is a cross between leaves and fish skeleons, leafy or nautical. In the light the colours look like turquoise. The fabric is thick cotton, daytime. But the buttons take you through to the evening.  The buttonsy\ have two holes. They are sewn on with black thread. The waist has a drawstring belt made of the same fabric. I love the large pockets. The elft pocket had a strong wide toothed plastic zip. But the right hand pocket has no zip.  The surprise is that you can fasten a blouse securely with only three buttons and thr...

Black summer Jacket over Anthony Sicari outfit 340

Image
Photo by Angela Lansbury. I had been wearing a loose hooded jacket all the rainy season of winter and spring in the UK and Europe. Then the weather turned summy for five minutes. My husband frowned at my jacket. So I looked for a lighter jacket without a hood. I found a lightweight black jacket. It was short, waist length, small enough not to create a clutter or need hanging up. The brand label is Wallis Exclusive. Made in the UK. Dry Clean - Why? The label warns, dry clean only. Why? Because if the fabric shrinks in washing. Or the lining is a different fabric so when you wash it, the seams pucker, the item hands wrongly, it is too tight. Or the colours run. Or this happens on high heat and in case the person washing makes a mistake they will complain or be dis satisfied with the product. I think if I am very careful to wash on cold, the garment will stay the same colour and not shrink. I don't dry clean anything. I would wash it or rince it in cold water and hang it up to dry, ho...

Photo by Angela Lansbury. I was looking for green and white to match the green and white of the Esperanto flag because I was giving a presentation on the Esperanto auxiliary language for my languages club on Zoom every Sunday. Green long Sleeved Vest Patra, UK, copany sells lots of silk, silk mixtures, cotton, bamboo, underwwear in lots of styles, co-ordinating clothes, dresses, sheets, scarves, and clothes for men and women including socks. White V Neck Top Black ground sheep Aprong Ulster Weavers Royal blue tight stretchy dress. Background red A sheet from John Lewish department store. Hung over a bookcase to hide the distraction and untidiness of the books. The red of the apron covers the distracting grey of my IKEA office chair and matches the red background. Adds some warmth and jollity to the cool of the blue and white and green. The blue dress echoes the blue of my eyes.  The V neck of the dress echoes the v neck of the white blouse. The green Patra vest fills in the ...

Stick on Nails from Tesco Express Post 338

Photo by Angela Lansbury. Not a huge choice. Just one design. But if you are in a hurry and just want to try out an inexpensive set, here they are from your cheap, run in and out supermarket. Pinky colour with a white swirl design. Large and oblong.  Check the number of nails in the box. If you have ten nails, as most people do, and you want one on each nail, that's ten nails. Nice new nails Post 337

Image
I sat beside this lady on a railway station platform, and I admired her nails. She told me, "I had them done at a nail salon near Willesdon Junction. But you can get them anywhere. I chose the basic nail to stick on in a pale pink backgroud. Then they add whatever pattern you like. They paint on the pattern."\\ She chose a red heart with a word inside.  From Salons Nails seem to get longer and longer, and more elaborate with more and more intricate designs and combination of patterns. When you look carefully, she has the same heart on each nail, about three hearts per nail. Sometimes you get stick on, or freehand painting, or painting on using a stencil. DIY From Amazon's assorted suppliers you can get press on nails and glue for attaching nails and stick on stones and decorations. Occasions and Opportunities For parties, engagement parties, weddings, gifts, and evenings or afternoons of entertainment.  If you break a nail, an ideal cover-up. Useful websites https://www....

Black sequin cap, sewn tighte, dress of the day numberr 336

Black sequin hat. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright.   Black sequin hat from Atmosphere. Atmosphere is the label of clothing and accessories from Primark. Primark sells affordable clothing.  The black sequin hat was elasticated. The elastic had gone. I pinned it in two places at the front. I pinned on the opposite side to the label which was sewn into a seam. Then I sewed a tuck, using black cotton. A quick job. I didn't want it too tight. That would be uncomfortable. Distracting. Might give me a headache. Or make me take it off. Was it tight enough? A good test is to lean forward and see whether the hat falls off your head.  What to wear it with? Angela wering a seuinned hat and a black and white blouse label Gallery. Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Black & White and red blouse The blouse label is Gallery. It is a summer blouse, short sleeves, white background. But the black and red pattern means you can wear it with black skirts and shoes and accessories. Sleeves The ...

Undress of the day! Post number 335. Discovery of the Pocketbra!

Image
Pocketbra website picture. I was looking at Cargo pants with deep pockets, then recalled pickpocketproof clothing.  I found this amazing useful idea on the website of Pocketproof clothing. The Pocketbra The Pocketbra has pockets in the cups, plus pockets in the sides. The price I was asked was 49.95 US dollars. I did not get as far as postage. It says free shipping with a star next to it. That might mean standard, slow shipping, or USA only. Temporary DIY Travel Pockets Of course, as I found out with inside pockets of jackets, and waistcoats under jackets, you need a blouse or teeshirt you can undo or lift quickly lift to get access to your money or keys, in private, or in public.  You will have to think what you will do going through security at an airport. A metal door key inside a bra would cause a little inconvenience.  On the other hand, just for jogging, or on a crowded train, this might be the right thing. Even dancing ina discotheque. If you can't afford the money...

Angela Lansbury in red and wine colour outfit. Photo by Trevor Sharot. Jacket This fintage jacket is labelled Akce Fabrcs, Desugned in France. Hand made in Cyprus. I bought it from Comfy Clothes which made clothes. Unfortunately, for me, they went out of business. I used to buy a lot in their sales. They had lovely fabrics and designs.  The jacket is too long and I have turned it up with safty pins. I am consdering cutting off a section at the hem. This involved either leaving it where it has been cut with pinking sheers. Or hand sewing it. A scarf section could be used as a belt or narrow scarf. Silver, plated, fake, alloy, or lead, arsenic and downright dangerous? Silver plating., post 332

Image
The key ring which needed cleaning. Photo by Angela Lansbury.  I found a charm key ring which had turned black. The charm was heavy. Too heavy for a charm bracelet. Maybe a pendant? Was it silver? I decided to rub it and see if it was silver and could be restored.  What could I do with it? Paint? Paint could be toxic. White lead paint? No. how about clear varnish? It would still be black. First rub it and see it it turned silver.  How long would it take? How could I get into the grooves? I started investigating restoring silver. It seemed that I needed white vinegar and baking power, not baking soda.  Meanwhile, I rubbed away. With little result.  What was the metal made of? How much silver? What else? I found a website of a person in a company which makes stainless steel jewellery. I have not previously been enamoured by stainless steel jewellery. I thought it was a gimmick. A new-fangled idea. Worthless. All things are relative. The writer from the comp...

Beautiful boots in black or red bring compliments - how to wash mud? . Outfit 331

Image
Wine red boots. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright.  I am still getting compliments, from men, "they are unusual,' and women, 'they are pretty,' about my boots.  I have these boots in black, and wine. The soles are thick and synthetic. But flat enough for comfortable walking around the city.  Because the soles are synthetic, they are washable. I wore them walking across a lawn and they became muddy with bits of gravel. A quick wash.  Dig out the gravel from grooves. How? Some bigger piece can be pushed out by flexing the boot sole and pushing with your fingernails.  But, I thought, you risk damaging your nail varnish, loosening your nail and it hurts,  Or picking up an infection. One answer is use a toothpick or cocktail stick.  I was afraid to dry them under a radiator in case the leather cracked. Or the soles cracked. I have had several pairs of shoes and sandals whose synthetic soles disintegrated, and crumbled.   Ruined shoes. Mess all o...
