Choosing Needle Size First choose your needle. I try to pick a needle with a large eye. But not so large that it leaves a big hole in the fabric. Nor a hole which lets the thread slip through.  Storing needles and threads I just re-organized one of my many sewing boxes, a small one, with only four compartments. I put the needle threader in the same compartment as the needles.  The threads went in the large compartment.  Wire Needle Threader I like the little wife needle threaders with a flexible diamond shape end and a round piece for holding it. You thread the wire through the needle. If you can't see the eye, hold the needle against a light or white piece of paper. If you cannot hold the needle steady, instead of holding the needle in midair horizontally and rotating the eye, press the point downwards into a piece of white paper, so the eye is visible and still. The insides of the shoulder pads disintegrated long ago. Buttons Five gold half dome buttons down the front. I had wanted to wear a different blouse in a shiny synthetic fabric which I could have washed and dried quickly. However, my other favourite smart blouse had multiple buttons and I was in a hurry. This blouse had just five buttons down the front.  Collar It also has a dramatic collar. I wanted to wear something special for the HOD speakers 25th anniversary party.  The collar has long points which are sewn down mid-way and raised for dramatic effect.   Last summer's dress and jacket set. . Last summer I wore sunny, happy reds and pinks and orange outfits. I bought several sets from Shein and Temu. Green Dress & Jacket Outfit This green one looked a bit dull.  Now it is cold, 20 degrees c in my kitchen, I thought I would put it away.  But it has never been worn. What a waste. At least wear it once to get my money's worth. Besides, sometimes I get to like an outfit I had previously rejected. It made a change. Besides, dark green is an autumn colour.  Matching Necklace I bought the necklace in st Luke's shop in Hatch End in north London. The St Luke's shops are in high streets in north west London.
