In modern fashion is is a tunic which comes in at the waist, but has an attention-catching ruffle or wide frill attached to create an hour-glass effect. You could also call it an overskirt. Reasons For Peplum To create an hour glass effect. To draw attention to a small waist. To make the wearer look attractive. To make the garment look more attractive. To create a new season's look so people buy new clothes. To distinguish one designer's outfits from another's. To draw attention away from the face to the waist. It was the fashion twenty years ago. Your old vintage clothes are back in fashion. Nostalgia. You loved the look last time and here it is again. You can check every item you pack to secure it or other items. Start with securing all open pockets. Or buy clothes with secure pockets. Jackets for photographers, fishermen, sports enthusiasts, travellers and others have multiple pockets. Ski jackets and sports jackets often have inner pockets. You can also search online for dress with pockets, shirt with pockets, tee shirt with pockets, coat with pockets, raincoat with pockets. Here is what I have found and adapted. Pockets At last I have found  clothing in bright colours with multiple pockets. You can wear a short sleeved tee shirt with another jacket on top when on trains or walking through crowds. A five pocket tee-shirt reduced to about fifteen pounds, free postage or plus postage. Coupons available. Various colours. I ordered myself one. The description I read was bright red but the picture on my screen was dark maroon. Either will do. I'll give you feedback and a photo when I receive it. What Else For Securing Pockets? What...

  At last I have found pickpocketproof clothing in bright colours with multiple pockets. You can wear a short sleeved tee shirt with another jacket on top when on trains or walking through crowds. A five pocket tee-shirt reduced to about fifteen pounds, free postage or plus postage. Coupons available. Two open hand pockets, three zipped pockets. Update The zipped pockets are accessible. Not hidden from would-be pickpockets with pockets down the side seam which you might have been able to hide them with arms clutched to your sides. However, you can wear a jacket on top.  Various colours. What Else? What else can you do? Dont keep valuables in a backback with a zip or open pocket which has only a button or nothing closing it in public places and crowds. Guard against things falling out of pockets by attaching zips to all pcokets. Wear ski jackets which have inside pockets. Don't put your phones down on a table. Watch out ofr strangers who approad with a newspaper and put it down...

  I knew I had socks to match. I hunted everywhere for the socks. Nowhere to be found. Then I looked for something else in the airing cupboard above the boiler. I found the missing socks. First Black is easy to keep clean - and co-ordinate with black skirts and accessories. but added colours liven it up and co-ordinate with other colours. Best of all, a matching set. Smart. Unusual. If you can't find a matching set, you can either match your tops to your socks, or match your socks to your top. Gloves And Scarf Set At St Luke's in a one pound box I found two white gloves attached to each other, then a scarf which looked like it matched the gloves. I didn't need the scarf as I had already sewn a scarf and hat together to make a hood.  But gloves and scarf set appealed.  In St Luke's I rummanged in another one pound box I found the top and bottom halves of a pair of pyjamas. They were not attached by a string, nor a label saying not to be sold separately. I was lucky to match them up. I presumed they had originally been a pair but had somehow come apart. Again, when I presented the items at the till, I was told I had two items so the charge was two pounds, not one pound. I was surprised and annoyed at being charged for each half separately, one pound for each half when the container marked the contents as one pound for one item.  My vintage jumper label says W.Bill Ltd Bond Street, London. Size 18. It is warm for snowy weather. This jolly jumper is not only vintage in the sense of not current, no longer produced, manufactured long ago, as is the case with old labels such as St Michael of Marks & Spencer. W Bill Ltd is more like Anthony Sicari, a company regarded with fondness by buyers who still wear old garments and nostalgically search for the company. Then, fans sadly learn that the wonderful company no longer exists. But interesting clothing from yesteryear still is a joy to behold and can inspire us to copy aspects of favourite treasured garments. Why do I still wear this jumper? It is both warm in fabric and warms the soul with its jolly colours. Even though cherries are not a winter fruit. Are they cherries?  Or holly? I looked at holly.

I saw them in the one pound box of unsold rejects which I always search through.  Altering The Pyjama Trousers (Americans Say Pants) \I was considering turning the trousers into a skirt. I did this many times when I was living for several months of the year in Singapore. You slit the seam up the inside legs of the trousers and carefully across the crotch. I hesitated. Then I found the top. Why were they separated? The Pyjama Top The pyrama top was the same plaid or tartan. The top had only one pocket. Just enough for a paper hanky. (Americans say paper tissues.) If you attached the cut pyjama bottoms to the hem of the top it could make a dress. It becomes a shirt waister. The top still buttons up but the skirt would be pulled on over your head.
