Chinese Outfit for Chinese New Year: Dress 197, paired with Brevitt bar shoes

 My pink Cheong Sam (Dress 193) comes out again for the Chinese New Year Dinner. We had a Chinese New Year lunch. Usually a New Year Dinner is held on the evening of the holiday. 

The evening before? Yes. A bit like Christmas Eve or more like New Year's Eve in the common calendar on Dec 31st.

Once again I matched up pinks. I wore pink lipstick. 

This time the dress is worn with flat pink and purple shoes. The shoes might rub. I found white socks. For lunch time in the sunlight white seemed more suitable than sophisticated black for the evening.


The pink cheongsam fastens diagonally from the neck with press studs and a pink double loop and a pink knot which goes through one loop.. The diagonal slit ends under the arm, but is extended by a invisible long zip down to hip level.



I thought the shoes would rub my feet so I wore socks.

Look for sales. In Feb they had a 20 per cent off sale with a code for two days from when i logged in on 13th, lasting until the 15th, but only on shoes over 30 pounds, or order of that price, if I had ordered two. 

Josef Seibel flat 2 cm heel flat shoes with closed toe and bar strap, style Rosalie 42, in what looks on my screen like dark turquoise but called azur which is French for blue, and another colour.

Delivery UK only which means you would have to be in the UK, deliver to a relative and collect them when you go there, or use a forwarding company.

However, on Ebay I found Boulevard brand flat bar shoes in assorted colours, about 23.95 pounds including free international shipping.

What is this? My repair.  I have a lovely shiny, smart black slip, from Marks & Spencers. It has a slit with pretty lace edging.  But it is slightly tight. What to wear for a funeral? A black funeral coat from Marks & Spencers Outfit 291

The invitation said nothing about the dress code.  I know lots of funerals nowadays people were mixed colours. Some specify wearing jolly colours. My friend at the funeral told me, "Always wer black. Unles it specifies otherwise, the rule is, wear black." I had my usual blue anorak with the hood with me. I left it in the car. In the boot of the car, in case anybody broke into the car hoping to find money in the pockets or because they wanted a coat to wear or sell. The safest thing is to leave a completely empty car. At least everything in the boot so the car looks empty. I could have kept the blue anorak in my black tote bag. I always found they had small size clothes, and were pracical as well as pretty, and keenly priced. Mine is vintage. Probably from st Luke's in Hatch End in NW London. You can buy from their current range online. Of their current range, in January 2024, i like the reversible gilet in wine and pink. Brand clockhouse. Standup collar. Zip. They call the colour purple.
