Dress of the Day 192: The red collar from China, contrasting with the blue dress and blue eyes.

This red collar from China is applique, a French word meaning applied, or sewn on. Since I hope to use it on several garments, I have added red ribbons to tie it on and I used it as a detachable collar.

The Blue Eyes

Often my eyes are a disappointing grey colour. I often wear blue, which seems to improve them, but I thought this was an optical illusion to do with having blue elsewhere in the picture. Then I read an article about blue eyes are colourless like water, lacking the brown pigment, and which are like the blue sea and blue sky and change colour reflecting the surroundings. This is really good news. It means that the blue I wear does get reflected in my eyes which act like a mirror and appear much bluer.

In this picture I have the red collar matched by my lipstick. The red does not enhance a red garment but disappears, whilst the see through of the central section shows the underlying colour. so I tried the effect of another vivid blue against the vivid red and liked the effect. The blue eyes were a bonus.

The Ribbon Ties

The red ribbon is tied at the back of my neck so you cannot see it. The ribbon is satin ribbon, intended for tying parcels. I bought the ribbon from Daiso, the Japanese store which in Singapore was selling everything for two dollars. I bought all three available colours, red, blue and turquoise green.

Daiso

Daiso have recently gone on line with a limited range, and added a few more expensive items, by popular request, they claim.)

Prices - bargains

The prices of the lace collars, which I presume are made on a kitting machine are incredibly cheap. they start at under five dollars with free postage. From China. Or Sri Lanka. The collars and complete fronts  completely upgrade an outfit. You can wear them even on a plain white tee-shirt to go out to dinner or appear on a Zoom meeting.
