Dress of the Day 266 Anthony Sicari. Black and autumn rainbow outfit.

My dress of the day, 266, is an Anthony Sicari, three-piece outfit. The dress forms the skirt. Then you don the top. Finally the matching scarf. 

Fabric

The dress skirt is the patterned fabric all the way around from the waist. The top half of the so called dress looks like a slip. It is a very thin knitted fabric stretching one way horizontally over the bust.

The label on the over-top says 75% acrylic and 25% nylon. Exclusive of trim. 

The trim is the same fabric as the dress so it must be polyester, like the skirt of the dress.

Top Style

The top is unusually long. This is good for winter.

The size is 14. The Dolman sleeves mean it fits any size.

How to Wear A Scarf

Because the front of the top has an off-centre diagonal pattern, you cannot hang the scarf in two long pieces down the front, nor even a knotted tie in the centre. Instead, I tied a double knot and threw one end back out of the way over my shoulder.

I remember as a teenager seeing, for the first time, a scarf knotted at the side of the neck, on the left shoulder, (which appears on the right to the onlooker). To me it looked so different, so sophisticated, so superior.

The label says 100 percent polyester. I love the fact that the scarf matches. In addition to looking great, it saves me a lot of trouble trying to match up colours. 

I avoid going from daylight to dark. Equally odd, going from dark indoors at night, the night before, to the bright light of day next morning, and finding that what I thought was a close colour is really a clash. 

You can see that the hat is an almost but not quite match. One day I shall have the courage to cut a piece off the scarf to make a matching hat. Alternatively, to save fabric, I could design a hat with a small piece of matching patch on the front. 

I bought it on ebay. But if you search on ebay for Anthony Sicary, you will be offered suggestions of similar outfits by other manufacturers.

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours.
