Buttons and fastening

Six spherical pearly orange buttons down the plaquet and one on each of the two cuffs. One flat, orange, pearl effect, flat, two hole button on the collar, with a loop fastening. 

Six, narrow, short pleats on each shoulder. Orange embroidery with cut outs.

A placket (also spelled placquet) is an opening in the upper part of trousers or skirts, or at the neck or sleeve of a garment.[1] Plackets are almost always used to allow clothing to be put on or removed easily but are sometimes used purely as a design element. Modern plackets often contain fabric facings or attached bands to surround and reinforce fasteners such as buttons, snaps, or zippers.

Construction[edit]

In modern usage, the term placket often refers to the double layers of fabric that hold the buttons and buttonholes in a shirt. Plackets can also be found at the neckline of a shirt, the cuff of a sleeve, or at the waist of a skirt or pair of trousers.

Plackets are almost always made of more than one layer of fabric, and often have interfacing in between the fabric layers. This is done to give support and strength to the placket fabric because the placket and the fasteners on it are often subjected to stress when the garment is worn. The two sides of the placket often overlap. This is done to protect the wearer from fasteners rubbing against their skin and to hide underlying clothing or undergarments.

Divine Devoré  Tunic Or Sleeveless Dress

Devoré from the French word for to devour,  is also called burnout in English. The raised surface, like a light velvet on a chiffon backing has areas burned out with acid showing only the chiffon backing. 

The label says A.H.EXCLUSIVE. I can find a company called AH but not the same people.

Made in UK. Dry clean only. UK 26.EUR 52.

The lovely velvet fabric changes colour when light falls on it. When dark burgundy red, olive browny grey, darkest bottle green almost navy. When light falls on it, orange, pale grey, teal or dark turquoise,

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
