Colours

I love the colours of this tee-shirt. The stripes in darker colours are red and blue. It also has orange, pale green, yellow and white.


The orange stripes are in four widths.

Frayed Edges


This tee-shirt was discarded. A rescued item. 

After I washed it, I looked at it closely. I could see why it had been thrown out. The edges were coming apart.

Yes, the edges were coming apart. Could I leave it? People wear torn jeans. Why not a torn top? Grunge. 

However, they did not look right. I pulled them completely apart. Around both sleeves and the hem. 

I was left with two frayed edges. I could have folded them inside each other. Or folded them back inside the garment. 

Or covered them with bias tape. Matt. To suit the matt, muted colours. 


Or oversewn the edges together with a neat blanket stitch. Or oversewn each edge separately, visibly or folded down, hemmed.

I showed my husband. I thought he would say: 'That doesn't look right. Sew it inside invisibly.'

He didn't.

He said. 'That would be a lot of work. Just leave it. Nobody is going to notice.'


I wore the garment with the sleeves half hidden by a jacket. The lower hem could have been pulled inside a skirt. However, I preferred the garment long because I liked the pattern.


The neck band has pulled away. I covered the gap with a dickey. I found I had stored a rescued child's Disney sleeveless tunic. I slit it down the two sides and it made a round neck DIY dickey. I also had a white dickey with a pointed collar to add more formality.

My husband looked at the assortment of colours and fabrics and styles and layers and he said, 'Very Angela.'

The brand is Bossini. Size large.


The washing label has washed to all-white. The fabric feels like cotton. Cool and comfortable. But when you look closely it is knitted and stretches sideways.

Bossini stores are all over Asia, Australia, the middle east and eastern Europe.

In Wikipedia you can read about the kidnapping of the grand-daughter of the company's founder.  It happened in Hong Kong the the culprits were caught.

    Sweater embroidered with mock pearls matches my hat pinned with mock pearl brooches.  I had never worn this pale grey sweater  I thought pale grey was a boring colour and always opted for something brighter such as royal blue or bight red. Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
