Skirt/Leggings
I was nervous about cutting up these leggings to make a skirt. The legs were so tight. Would I have enough fabric? Would they look right?
As you might have seen, I had already tried this on the pink pair. It worked well. If you have air conditioning or live in a cold country, warm and tight leggings might be more useful to you. But with spring and summer coming up, a look, cool skirt was higher on my agenda.
Simply slit the leggings up the inside leg. I use pinking sheers. I cut carefully down one side of the seam, the back of the seam, so that the existing seam forms a neat edge near the front of the garment on both sides.
The leggings brand is Srishti. They are 95% cotton, 5% spandex. Color turquoise blue. Size M.
This is the second pair of leggings I have cut. You can see the pinky-purple ones in previous posts.
This time I had the courage to cut the leggings across the ankle horizontally. The resulting two oblongs can be used to fill in the triangular gap at the hips on both sides.
I pinned the spare pieces on with safety pins on both sides so as not to lose them and to see how they should be sewn. My first idea was to sew them horizontally, hiding parts of the cloth behind the A shape gap.
Then I decided to make use of the spare PIECES OF material by inserting them like a diamond. This left a triangular piece hanging down.
The triangular patch could be used for something else, such as a pocket. Or spiralled into a decorative rosette.
However, it looked great hanging down to a point. The points reminded me of garments made like that. Like a handkerchief hem pointed edge skirt.

I had this cardboard object lying on my desk. I must have picked it out of a bin years, ago, probably pre Covid-19. It is a DIY object, probably made by a school pupil. It has three blue oblongs and three yellow ones. The blue and yellow craft paper is stuck on.
The individual shapes are called oblong prisms, rectangular prisms, 3d cuboids.

It would be more useful to turn little boxes into holders for safety pins.
