For A White Smile In Photos - Toothpaste Which Cleaned My Stained Teeth

Tooth Problem

I noticed that one of my front lower teeth was stained dark. Maybe too much coffee.

In the good old days before Covid-19, I would have gone to the Hygienist at the dental surgery. Somehow I missed out in the past year.

I was using an electric toothbrush. But it was not good enough.

A stained front tooth. Visible on photos.

It looked bad for photos, especially group photos on Zoom. What could I do? I tried various ploys to hide the tooth.

a) I tried smiling with my mouth shut.

b) I tried to smile with my lower lip over my bottom teeth.

c) I tried smiling with the top teeth showing. But hid my lower teeth by keeping my jaws clenched.

However, that was not tackling the problem. Apart from my appearance, I was concerned about the condition of my teeth. Would a brown stain turn into a cavity!

When I came to the end of my toothpaste tube, I looked for another tube. This was when I found the answer to the problem.

Tiny Tubes

We had some spare tiny tubes of toothpaste which we had been given by dentists. Free samples from the manufacturer.  Usually they would get used up on weekends away or short travel trips. However, travel has been reduced, so we now had a stock of small toothpaste tubes.

By chance I picked up an unfamiliar one. I tutted. The brand was Oral B Pro Expert. Where did that come from? The dentist? Or the tiny free tube included with the new electric toothbrush or pack of heads for electric toothbrushes?

I looked suspiciously at the marketing, which I regarded as hype, exaggeration, vague promises and hopes. I suspected more result came from brushing than the toothpaste. I muttered to myself, The toothpaste's flavour really encourages you. Or discourages you!

Now I came to the test.

I like my usual toothpaste and I have tried lots of odd toothpaste which is never as good as my usual favorites. I shrugged. It would have to do. Just for a day.

I made do. However, this time, I got a really good clean. My mother felt revitalized. What was in the toothepaste?

Ingredients

I read the label. Then I went online to investigate the ingredients.

The toothpaste was PRO.  (For professionals.) Their own website warns it is not to be used for too long, for fear that the abrasives will wear away your surface enamel. But I was prepared to use it for a week or two or three, or even four, until my stained tooth had improved.

A super strong toothpaste, as far as I can see, has extra ingredients.

We looked for it in the local supermarkets, but nothing like it exists. However, I did spot a toothpaste containing charcoal. Charcoal is not for me. I don't fancy putting black on white teeth. But finding a toothpaste containing charcoal was a surprise to my family. They thought I was joking, or mistaken, until they saw it for themselves, sold in a supermarket in Singapore.
