Update on Photo Accessories

Japanese Bowl

The fresh Mandarin orange is in small Japanese blue bowl. You can buy small bowls in Japanese stores. The one which comes to mind is Japanese Home. Also Daiso, which in Singapore sells for only two Singapore dollars, and has stores all over the world. Fairprice supermarket in Singapore stocks several which you can see online, singles and sets. The sizes are smallest four inch, then 4.5, or 6 inch. The smallest four inch ones are called dip or dipping bowl. We use them for soy sauce to go with sushi at lunch time.   Six inches is suitable for small bowls of white rice. Choose a colour for contrast with the food contents.

Update on the glass ((April 7th, 2022)

The glass coffee cup and saucer with the colourful stained glass effect have the embossed wording, Lucky, Thailand.

The colours are silver glitter five point leaves on both side os fhte glass, gold glitter outline. Orange and pale see-through burgundy colour insets. Black currants.

The glitter might be stuck on or baked on. I would not put these in a dishwasher or even hot water. Nor for coffee. I would used the little cup for cold drinks. I would washed out immediately to prevent the contents drying on or staining. Washing the glass by hand, admiring the colours close-up, would be a pleasure.

I searched the net for something similar. I found a lucky glass company which makes a small glass cup with two designs, Turkish rose, and Turkish flower, but without colours. If you are like my husband and think coloured glass is gaudy, this might suit you. The Lucky company website also features frosted glass and black matt glass.

Disadvantages of Black Glass?

I am totally against black glass for drinks. Black conceals the contents. The colour can deceive you as to how much you are served. It could conceal how much you are drinking. A third disadvantage is that you cannot see whether the wine has turned brown due to age and could be delightful or disgusting.

Advantages of Coloured Glass

This cup is partly see-through so you can enjoy the colour of the drink. When the glass is empty, you still have the glass to admire.

You can buy on ebay second hand sets of decanters and four or six shot glasses, wine glasses or tumblers. The original makers might be from: Venice, Italy; or Morocco.

You can also paint on plain glass. I have seen waves of colour, blue. Or green. Cirlces and spheres: dots and polkadots and raindrops, princesses and mermaids, and balloons. For a wedding, white tulip designs with the names of the bridesmaids. The two tall glasses like Champagne glasses with a white dress and black tuxedo and tie for the groom.

Pearl brooches on hat paired with M & S sweater with pearls. Dress Post 686 by Angela Lansbury

Image
Sweater embroidered with mock pearls matches my hat pinned with mock pearl brooches.  I had never worn this pale grey sweater  I thought pale grey was a boring colour and always opted for something brighter such as royal blue or bight red. However, as I re-folded warm winter tops to fit them into my crammed dresser unit shelves, this fell out. Was the universe sending me a message?  I thought, I don't remember ever wearing it.  I must wear it once. Just for a change.  Snow is falling outside in London. Now is its hour. I looked  at the decoration. Sequins! I had been searching for sequins to wear at New Year. This thick sweater would not match my red solid sequin evening skirt. However, it would match my knitted hat, which bore brooches with mock pearls. The Grey Marl Sweater M & S Collection. Size 14. a mixture of four fabrics, cotton.  As I had anticipated, the garment had pinned inside some spare sequins and pearls and rhinestones....

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

Image
I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them. If the socks are too tight, you might feel uncomfortable. At night, when you take them off, you might see red indentation lines acr...
