Beautiful Broderie Anglaise Hairband - Like a tied tiara, dress 465

At first I was a bit disappointed in the head band. It had two good points. First, the hairband had good broderie anglaise. (The modern word is eyelet.) 

Secondly, I was intrigued by the wire inside the two halves of the bow - which enabled you to bend it at any angle. Like ears, as you see above, or flat.

What a pity the headband was not made of bendable wire. It was too tight. Uncomfortable.

For an hour or so I was unaccountably despondent. Then I went back to the headband to consider. What could be done? Slide out the stiff hair band and insert another?.

Wear it sideways? Wear it flat on top like a pancake? But how to stop it sliding off?

Tie it on with a pale colour, cream or white ribbon. How to fasten the ribbon?  Under my chin. A simple bow.

It might not stay on if I were running for a bus. However, it might stay put whilst I sat at a zoom meeting. I tried it for a Zoom meeting. It was successful. It looked good.

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
