New Night Dress 497, (201 dress of the day repeated as night wear)

Update, Sept 10th 2022. Former Pyjamas as Skirted Nightwear
I had run out of clothes to wear at night because everything was still damp after being washed. So I re-discovered these neglected items, former pyjamas.

The top is long. Almost long enough for decency in daytime, when walking around late at night and early morning. 

However, I need the skirt part. I need it to sit on a chair. If I have to answer the door for the mail or any caller. Or to exit for a fire alarm.

It is good to have your body covered at night. It helps keep the sheets clean. Easier to wash pyjama bottoms than the entire upper and lower sheets on a bed.

Why have the pyjamas cut open? Why not just wear the pyjamas?
 
The open skirt is cooler. I like to let the air in to prevent developing thrush.

The Background and Pattern
The background is white, shiny, the shadowy parts almost silver. The dots are grey, (the American spelling is gray) almost lavender. Better than pure white, so a tiny mark, such as a blue line from a pen, would not show annoyingly.

Stitching
The stitches are small and secure. Firm and neat.

Buttons
The buttons are large and white. So well-co-ordinated that you don't notice them. 
Two holes. Neat. Inconspicuous. 
Practical. Easy to do up and undo.

Piping
The narrow piping is the same colour as the dots. It runs in a long line, up one side and around the collar and down again. Very neat. 
On the cuffs, the piping is not on the edge but at the top of the cuff. No flapping cuffs. I like that. 

Silky Fabric
The fabric feel was just like silk. The best silk, incredibly soft. 

When I looked at the label, I was astonished to read that the fabric was 93% viscose, with 3% spandex. 

Very strokable. I stroke the top of my own arm.

Very huggable. Makes me feel lovable. I want to ask my husband to give me a hug.

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
