The Blue Tunic Three Piece Set

The tunic is a kurta. The style worn in India and the Middle East. Because a kurta a slit up both sides to the waist it is usually worn with a matching or plainer pant (trouser), usually the fabric without the glossy embroidery.

A floor length or ankle length skirt uses a lot of fabric. That raises he cost. So I was very pleased wih y bargain. Oddly, the colour is much brighter blue in sunlight. In the evening I looked at the pale blue under elecric light and it seemed rather epis and wishy washy. However, I decided tha because I have blue eyes, alhough it was not royal blue which maches my skin colour, it might prove a success. I was more the pleased with the resul.

If I have no worn the trousers at all after a year or two, I shall consider turning them into a skirt.

Fabric

The material is very light weight. Probably cotton. Close weave. Could be polyester or polycotton.

The Pattern

The repeating pattern is scarcely noticeable, a small white embroidered triple leaf on a short straight stalk at widely spaced intervals.

The neckline has a square tipped notch. Around it is a white pattern of flowers with multiple petals and little buds with fill-in of a darker turquoise. This greeny turquoise colour matches my green vest wonderfully well. Almost invisible are tiny silver accents.

Cost And Source

This is the third of my second-hand tunic outfits, bought at five pounds each, from North Harrow library.  They usually sell only books and toys on the midweek evening when Toastmasters International club, HOD Toastmasters, meets there.

Accessories

I have a notebook from a company called Blu, and a padded ,inculsed lunch bag in a siilar colour. The kurta comes with a maching scarf which has varying strength of colour from white to the blue. IIt was too hot to wear the plain blue rousers (Americans say pants). I tried to tie them as head wrap, bu you need a pin or brooch or rubber band o secure the fabric.
