Black & White Jacket, Mystery Label 457

The basis for the outfit is the dress.The label is Coast. Size 16. 

Simple Style
The neck is V neck, cross over. The black and white dress had three quarter length sleeves, a bit chilly for winter. 

The Magic Jacket

The jacket transformed the outfit. It turned the dress into an outfit. What was special about the jacket? The striking white long flowing collar.

I can't tell you the manufacturer nor the line. The label was cut out of my black and white jacket. I had hung it on the hanger with the black and white dress and decided they matched well enough. 

The long sleeved jacket had longer sleeves. 

The long white colour of the jacket took away from the over all black effect of the dress. The white added a pleasing contrast. A touch of drama.

Deep Pockets

The two deep pockets on the jacket, one on either side, were another bonus. A place for a hanky. A place to put your hands.

The addition of the jacket combined with the dress turned the dress into part of a two piece outfit.

The Red Vintage Shoes

The red shoes co-ordinate with my red top and lipstick. But what is the label of the shoes? I have no idea. 

The red vintage shoes are also a mystery, like the jacket. The red shoes have a zip on one side, a lace up on the other. Not flat laces but fancier round laces.

 I like the zip more than the lace up. However, when I tried the shoes on, at first I thought they were too small. When I loosened the laces, the shoes fitted.  Those laces, and elastic laces, work well. 

Too small? Why? The sole says size 5.

My husband comments, "Everybody on the tube in London wears trainers, running shoes, nowadays. Everybody wears practical footwear, whatever the weather or time of day."

Yes, I've noticed that. Even with gold writing on tee-shirts, sequins, and fancy ear-rings, people wear practical shoes. Flat shoes are no longer plain pumps, but decorated. Crocs have attachments, you can keep adding. Shoes can draw attention away from your face, or simply complete the look, the ensemble.

What is this? My repair.  I have a lovely shiny, smart black slip, from Marks & Spencers. It has a slit with pretty lace edging.  But it is slightly tight. Blue H & M Dress, dress of the day 393

But I had a white blouse, so I wore this. On the internet and on Facebook you can see lots of videos of how to tie a scarf, but mine is simply hanging, which partly obscures the cleavage.  Cleavage cover I had a choice. To insert a dickey or false front, also called a removable or detachable collar. I have one or two which are plain white.  The alternative which saves hunting for a matching dickey without distracting collar colours and embrodiery, is simply to add a fastening. I decided that a snap or press stud fastener in small size is qhich to fasten and unlikely to pull apart (as opposed to hook and eye. Period Pants from Marks & Spencer & More, post 345

Period pants from Savida. Pants, UK. In the USA they would be called underpants. They come in two colours, black or dark blue with a mottled effect. They are triple layer. Could be useful for hiking and travelling. Or when you have a cough.  A pack of three full briefs for fifteen pounds. I then googled period pants and found lots of results.  Marks Marks & Spencer do a pack of three containing three different colours, black, white and pink, for sixteen pounds.  They also do different absorbencies. The options range though light, heavy, and extra heavy. And more styles, such as pantaloon style, like short tight shorts coming half way down your thighs.
