Cushion Walk Collapse

The surface started peeling off my sandals. Like paint peeling off woodwork. Horror. Disappointment. I can't wear that. It looks shabby. It annoys me. I am worried that the rest of the shoe will disintegrate. My husband is likely to grab them and throw them in the bin. But they are cofortable. Handy for travelling. What should I do ? Throw them away - no.

How could I rescue them? I held them in my hands, wondering whether I  could separate the sole. As I held them, more 'paint' peeled off. 

I scratched off some more. The white surface underneath was intact, not disintegrating,  nor scratched nor stained.

 I continued. I didn't want to damage my fingernails. I tried rubbing with my finger tips.


New Colour of Rescued Shoes

Eventually I had a new colour of sandals. The sandals were originally dark pink and grey. (American spelling gray.)

 Does the loss of the top layer make any difference. The fabric is now slightly thinner. Maybe more susceptible to stains. But good for a few more days of wear. Plus psychologically a half way house on the route to putting them in the rubbish bin (Americans say garbage.) A postponement enabling myself to be reconciled to the idea that one day they must be thrown away.

Think of it as a swap. I now have a new pair of sandals.

The inside of the sandals is still in good consition. The printing showing the band name, the size, 4, UK, actually 4E, which is extra wide. 

Apart from saving waste, and saving money, and the colour, these sandals are comfortable.

Blue H & M Dress, dress of the day 393

But I had a white blouse, so I wore this. On the internet and on Facebook you can see lots of videos of how to tie a scarf, but mine is simply hanging, which partly obscures the cleavage.  Cleavage cover I had a choice. To insert a dickey or false front, also called a removable or detachable collar. I have one or two which are plain white.  The alternative which saves hunting for a matching dickey without distracting collar colours and embrodiery, is simply to add a fastening. I decided that a snap or press stud fastener in small size is qhich to fasten and unlikely to pull apart (as opposed to hook and eye. I like velcro but it can scratch your skin, so the press stud was the right andwer. You have to get the two sides exactly measured up from the point of the V neck otherwide you end up with...

Survival Clothes and Kits For Holidays, Home & Away post 510

I read in the news today that the French have issued instructions on preparing a survival kit for householders.  Convenient Carry Bag Your house should have a bag you can carry, or sling in a car. Your handbag or tote bag or holdall should have a few essentials. When hiking I wear clothes with pockets and have a rucksack with have pockets water, food and sting relief, and insect repallent, and maps and phone numbers. I also put the hospital nubers in my phone. Survival Kit Everybody should have a survival kit by their door, as well as a first aid box in the bathroom and a burns kit in the kitchen. Also clothes! Japanese The Japanese are reputed to keep survival kit by the door. Why? In case of earthquakes. Travellers should have a first aid kit. In their suitcase or bag. And in cars. Plus spare clothes.
