Tight Dress Slit To Fit, Worn under A Primark Teeshirt

The label was annaval.  The initial letter is not a capital.

The Dress Colours

The dress had happy colours, orange and green flowers.Green lines The black background would co-ordinate with black jackets, coats, bags and shoes.

Dress Style
Fitted.
Button to waist. Wide waistband.

I liked the collar. Neat. Covered the neck. Businesslike.

Made in Italy. 100% polyester.

Green Buttons

It has nine buttons. Seven down the plaquet from the neck to the waist. One on each cuff.

The neck button is missing. I could move one up from the waist. Or replace it with something fancy. But when I pulled the collar together, I found that it was too tight on my neck. Uncomfortable. Because the whole garment is cut too small for me.

Dress Too Tight

The dress was too small and tight.  I could not even get it over my head.

But it was cheap. In a charity shop. So I bought it.

I hoped to be able to alter it.

Late Night Cutting & Sewing

I tend to cut clothes last thing, last time, late at night. Why?

I suppose it's the realisation that if I don't alter it so it fits, one day I shall die without ever wearing it
A waste of the garment. The opportunity. The money.
Also, even if it's a long job, and it goes wrong, I have not wasted any of my working day

I am too tired to write a book, article or speech.

A simple act like cutting or slitting a seam will take less than half an hour
It's a mindless change from the stressful news. So a good calming activity before bedtime
And will leave me with one more thing accomplished in my day and my life
.
I looked at the seams

I cut the hem and lowered the line, leaving it free where it had been stitched up wlsecurely at the end of the side seams

My second cut was down the side seams under the arms. To above the waist
Originally I thought I would slit it all the way  down and wear it over a full.length black slip.
My third cut was at the armpits, where I now already had cut the side seams.
I thought I would need to have the sleeves open all the way down.

However, I was able to try on the dress and it was loose enough with half the upper arms slit.
The Black Skirt

The Red Primark T-shirt

Primark. Made in Bangladesh size large.
Slim fit stretch.
Instead of wearing it under the slit dress I wore it on top
That was it covered the slit arms and slit sides, and the front buttons at waist level which would not do up.

The Black Mark & Spencer Skirt

100% silk. I never realised it was silk.
Size 14. Made in China.
I looked at my black skirts. I had shorter skirts. I chose the long Marks & Spencer Skirt for two reasons. Primarily because it is long so no glaring gap beween my sandals and socks and the hemline.
Secondly the fabric is shiny, which goes better with the polyester fabric.
The skirt has a side mylon zip. Inconscpicuous. At the top of the zip is a tiy pearl button fastened by a loop of fabric.
The waistband is narrow.
The skirt is lined. Marks & Spencer quality, as ever.

Verdict - Lesson Learned
I was very pleased. A new outfit. Different from any other day.

Different from any other person. My own unique style.

A successful alteration. A new discovery. Instead of wearing something under a slit, wear a plain top with short sleeves to cover any slits. Covers any untidiness. Saves time. Saves work. Saves embarrassment. No need to pay an alterations service. No need to throw the itemaway or give it to landfill.
