Painted a bracelet with nail varnish Post 665
Red Multicolour Bracelet
I have a red bracelet with streaks of gold and colour. It looks good with both red and green outfits. I wear it on my left wrist.
I have another green bracelet which has larger round green beads and spacers, but plain green. It has small white spacers. I could wear a red, white and green outfit to match both bracelets. Or green. Mostly I wear all red, or red and white, or red and black outfits. The green bracelet goes with everything, but could match the other bracelet better, and could match more outfits. It co-ordinates with green, and contrasts with red.
Plain Green Bead Bracelet
I looked at the green bracelet and thought, maybe I could paint that like the red one. Where can I find paint which won't irritate or poison my skin?
I looked at my nail varnish. Just the thing.
On the green bracelet you can see traces of the colour I applied on one side.
I did not take a picture before painting. But I painted a small streak or bigger blob on each of the large beads.
Paint Blobs Or Streaks Of Nail Varnish On Big Beads
The larger size nail varnish bottle had a larger brush. When I applied a full load of varnish I made a misshapen blob. Next time I try this, maybe testing on a cheap, unimportant bracelet I can experiment and I shall try to do it with more care.
Limiting And Controlling The Amount Of Nail Varnish
A smaller nail vanish container with a smaller brush would be better. And taking less varnish, or stroking off a little of the varnish from the brush, before applying it.
Painting Spacer Beads
Then also added colour to the smaller spacer beads, because I saw that was done on the red bracelet.
I think the effect is patchy. I prefer to leave the spacer beads alone.
Permanent Or Temporary Paint On Bracelet Beads?
I have painted the green bracelets with a few pink nail varnish strokes, just to see whether I like the effect, and if it stays on securely, not flaking off. If it flakes off after a day or two, a wearing or two, I can reapply it.
So far, so good.
Now I am on the lookout for gold nail varnish. Failing that, silver.
Buying Pairs Of Bracelets
I now have a matching set. Next time I buy bracelets, I shall try to buy two of the same colour, one for each wrist, or two co-ordinating colours.
I am not so keen on the red varnish on the spacer beads.
Removing Paint, Replacing, Or Changing Colour
If I don't like the effect, I could try reviving it with nail varnish remover. That would probably damage a painted or delicate. bead. So I would first try that on only one bead.
Another option would be to overpaint the red blobs with green varnish.
I could also try cutting small pieces from stick on nail varnish pieces.
Warning About Painting Real Silver Or Gold
This is for cheaper glass effect or synthetic metal jewellery. I probably bought it cheaply in a charity shop. I would not try it on valuable jewellery such as silver or gold, since that would be covering a more expensive item, and risks removing or covering the valuable gold or gold paint and making it flake off.
A jeweller can apply a new coat of enamel to enamel jewellery. And you can ask for advice.

General Warning About Paint
Several websites warn you about the side effects of unsuitable paint, ranging from allergies to more serious trouble. Other websites offer you paint designed for jewellery, paint which is said to be safe.
Making Bracelets
Diagrams on Wikihow and other sites tell you how to make jewellery from multi-packs. You can buy same colour or assorted colour beads, in same or assorted sizes. Or paint manufactured bracelets and other items.
You can also make beads. Then paint them.
