DIY Idea - Add A Removable Pom-Pom

This black hat has a removable pom pom. If you are making your own knitted hat, for yourself or to sell, you might like to add this feature. Make sure to include the removable pom pom in the description. Maybe they did not bother, or were worried that staff or customers would sneakily remove the pom pom and leave the hat to be sold without it.

My daughter in law bought the hat and didn't realise the pom-pom was removable. Then her daughter, my grand-daughter, pulled on the pom-pom. It came off. 

For a moment we were all aghast. The hat was spoiled, destroyed, we thought. I was about to fetch my sewing box and offer to sew the pom pom back on. 

Then we saw the snap, as my American daughter-in-law would say. In the UK we call it a press stud.
That saved the day. Pom pom re-attached.

Removable Pompom Advantages

What a clever idea. A removable pom pom. Feathery pom pom to look smart or different in the evening. Feathering pom-pom to look smart at an upmarket ski resort when shopping or having lunch. 

Advantages of Changing Pom-Poms
Remove the pom pom to look less conspicuous on a crowded bus. Shorter. Less luxurious. Less of target for thieves. Less of a target for teens, less for a prankster to grab and pull. 

Pack the pom pom inside the hat for compact storage and packing. Less to get tangled in your tote bag. Neat in a small suitcase or overnight bag.

Extra Colours Of Pom-Poms


You could buy the hat in two colours. for example, black and white. Four combinations. All white. All black. Black with white pom pom. White with black pom pom. Or coloured. Red and white. Red and black.

You could make or sell a hat with two pom-poms. If one pom-pom is lost, you still have the other. If one hat is lost, you still have the other.

I read in the news today that the French have issued instructions on preparing a survival kit for householders.  Convenient Carry Bag Your house should have a bag you can carry, or sling in a car. Your handbag or tote bag or holdall should have a few essentials. When hiking I wear clothes with pockets and have a rucksack with have pockets water, food and sting relief, and insect repallent, and maps and phone numbers. As you might expect  The St Luke's price was £3. I googled waistcoat, Shein, parrot, and the exact sme garment appeared immediately. The Shein model was wearing it over a white crop top with short denim shorts. The price was ten pounds plus three pounds postage. But as a new customer or returning customer (eg after a gap of several weeks not ordering) you might get offered free postage.  I like the fact that the patterns on the right and left mirror each other as if the parrots are about to speak to each other.
