From Peacocks in December 2025. Red sequins. Look closely and you see they are small size, in vertical strips. On a stretchy mesh base. Half lining from waist to upper thigh. 

Advantages of the Garment Design

The Colour

Cheerful bright red colour. Makes me happy. And confident. Dressy for an evening. Brightens up burgundy clothes outfits which otherwise might look dull and depressing in dull light.

The Skirt Slit

For easy of movement, a slit. to look sexy you might have this at the front. The skirt is roughly the same length all around and not yet stretched out of shape and longer at the back, so I try to keep it consistently at the back to hide non matching or distracting lower leg leggings worn underneath when going outdoors to travel to a destination in cold winter evenings in London

Advantages of A Half Lining

The skirt lining is only half length. This must save the manufacturer on production costs. 

It saves the seller on storage space. And postage cost. 

Less bulky material saves you space, for you the customer, when storing the skirt folded flat on a shelf. It saves space when hanging in a full length hanging space in a UK wardrobe or US closet.  

Also compact for packed in a suitcase to go on holiday. Equally handy if its is for just the evening when away for an evening or weekend for Christmas, New Year.  A wedding, or an evening out, whatever.

Care and Wear Of Half Lining - Slight Disadvantages

The lining is not sewn on with a string at the hem on both side seams which is what I have seen on other high quality garments. So you have to remember to pull down the lining. 

Until you realise that the lining has ridden up, it stays up or rides up, creating lumpiness at waist level. This is uncomfortable. Untidy. In photos it makes my hips look large.

If I had time and energy I would try adding a finger length of wool sewn onto the lining and attaching it to the skirt inside.

The small sequins are slightly less bold and brash close up than larger sequins. Less obvious when you lose one. I do find a few on the floor at home. 

Advantages Of Leather Burgundy Boots

Yes, the boots are real leather. More comfortable and stretchy than synthetic. Slightly less inclined to make your feet sweat and feel sticky and smelly when worn over a long period. Years ago in a book of guidance for teens I read that you should wear two pairs of shoes or boots on alternating days so that they could dry out. 

Storing Shoes & Boots Better

If the footwear is creasing or sagging out of shape, pack the pair with newspaper or better still something which does not have black print on it, or a shoe support, to help the dry stored shoe or boot to keep in shape. 

On holiday at a mountain resorts, skiing in winter, walking and hiking in summer, we used to put our boots on or under or near a radiator to dry out boots which had been in snow, or rain, or had been washed to remove mud. I sometimes washed my boots in the downstairs cloakroom near a tiled hallway, to prevent them leaving mud on the carpets or rugs in corridors or our hotel bedroom upstairs. Some hotels have ski and boot storage on the ground floor near the entrance, which save space in the bedroom as well as keeping wet or dirty items away from bedrooms where you are walking about barefoot and in slippers.

Nowadays, many homes have Asian style shoe racks by the door, with a separate storage shelf or cupboard or rack for clean indoor shoes or light soft slippers.

Sometimes new shoes come in a storage box containing a sachet of silica gel, technical term, deliquescent, water absorbing.

Burgundy Boots

I bought this pair of burgundy boots years ago. I have a black pair. Black goes with more outfits. Black and is never a clash of colour when I wear a black skirt. 

But the boots in burgundy colour makes the leaves on the toe more noticeable. the colour makes me feel happier and prouder. More individual.
