Party And Fancy Dress Dog Coats

I saw this delightful doggy coat on a dog in a pub at a funeral tea in January 2026. The pale blue of the dog lead co-ordinates with the colour of the coat.

Humorous and Friendly Outfits

At first sight a cartoon character pattern on a dog coat might seem silly. Or inappropriate for an occasion such as a funeral tea. However, humour can make the onlooker smile and feel more friendly and at ease with the dog owner and dog.

The dog was big and I was slightly scared, although it wagged its tail. The owner said the dog was friendly and liked people. Besides, the dog could smell the meat in the sausage rolls on the table and was hoping to get fed little treats.

I was wary, because of the size of the dog and it was barring my movement out of the way, as I was sandwiched between the dog and the table of sandwiches. But the colour and jollity of the dog coat distracted me from the teeth and tongue of the dog and made me view it as a toy rather than a threat.

 
Practical Waterproof Dog Coats

If you merely want to keep your dog warm, or dressed for a dog birthday party, and you are not fussy about the pattern, you can buy a daft dog coat with cartoon characters from Shein for under five pounds.
For a plain colour, refined, waterproof coat, you could invest about thirty pounds for a dog coat from petsathome.

Co-ordinating Colours

If you buy a plain colour coat for a dog, you could co-ordinate the colour with your own outfit. That would look neat. And help unite a straying dog with the owner.


Countryside Camouflage

Countryside green is also a good choice for those who like camouflage colours, blending in, being inconspicuous.


DIY Dog Outfits

Once you have one outfit, perhaps the cheapest, you can use it as a template to make your own dog outfit. Much smaller and simpler than a garment for yourself.

Simple Saddle Shape

 If you are not a keen sewer and don't have a sewing machine, failing all else, if the outfit gets torn or dirty, you can sew a simple saddle shape on top.  This would enable you to change the colour, or conceal a pattern you don't like, add or remove a seasonal pattern. You could also do this as a quick fix while waiting for you dream dog outfit to arrive in the post (Americans would say in the mail).

Multi-colour Oasis Trading Indian skirt, and Marks & Spencer Black Jacket, dress of the day 528

  The Marks & Spencer Jacket I bougtht the jacket because I wanted a long open ended zip to go on a long wrap around dressing gown without the garment gapping. I bought in a hurry. Only one pound. When I got it home I noticed it had a hood. My first thought was, that's handy, I've been looking online for hoods to add to some jackets and coats. I thought the jacket looked small.  In fact, when I tried it on it hugged me tight like underwear. This was good. It felt like a corset. The tight jacket worn over the too-long skirt, it helped keep the skirt up so that I didn't trip over it. However, my idea of cutting up the jacket went when I saw the label. Marks & Spencer. Pearl brooches on hat paired with M & S sweater with pearls. Dress Post 686 by Angela Lansbury

    Sweater embroidered with mock pearls matches my hat pinned with mock pearl brooches.  I had never worn this pale grey sweater  I thought pale grey was a boring colour and always opted for something brighter such as royal blue or bight red. However, as I re-folded warm winter tops to fit them into my crammed dresser unit shelves, this fell out. Was the universe sending me a message?  I thought, I don't remember ever wearing it.  I must wear it once. Just for a change.  Snow is falling outside in London. Now is its hour. I looked  at the decoration. Sequins! I had been searching for sequins to wear at New Year. This thick sweater would not match my red solid sequin evening skirt.
