I bought this on Ebay. I wanted a strong colour. Red. I already have a pale blue one which you see me wearing in a previous post. 

Jacket Styles, cut and darts

The blue jacket had bust darts. This red one has no darts.

One Pocket

The red one has a pocket. It is positioned too near the sleeve and half disappears under my arm. 

Real and Fake Pockets
I felt in the pocket to see if it was a real pocket, although I don't use a single pocket because it makes me look lopsided. However, it is psychologically positive to have a real pocket, not a fake. The pocket was real.

However, the vertical seam under the arm had come apart. Very hard to fix. The lining is attached all the way around the hem, so you can't repair the pocket from underneath. Well, it was second hand. Probably the seller didn't even know.

The Vertical Scallops

I bought this jacket because I wanted scallops. I first saw scallops on an orange jacket which was beyond my budget. The orange was bright, attractive, appealing.

 The orange jacket had the scallops horizontally across the hem. It looks great in the pictures and would look elegant against a contrasting colour skirt. 

Vertical scallops are better on a small stature person, petite. 
 
The orange jacket quickly disappeared from the internet. I was going to ask somebody to buy it for my birthday, later. I waited too long. Somebody must have bought it. 

I shall never find it again. It was the only one. Second hand. Not a regular line this season and every season from a shop or chain store.

I try to console myself with the thought that I now have an even better alternative. Vibrant red. Vertical scallops suit my size.

The Thick Fabric

The fabric is 100 polyester, with a nylon lining. The fabric feels stiff, rough, so the scallops stay visible. Oddly, despite being synthetic, and thick, the jacket fabric still creases a bit.

Advantages Of Medium Size 


I opted for medium. Most of the other similar jackets were small size. A bit risky. A jacket has to fit over a blouse or tank top. 

Classic Woman Label - Rare But Classic Is Everywhere

The label says Classic Woman. Unfortunately, when you search for Classic Woman you get lots of results for classic and woman. You can add quotation marks around the two words to show they must come together. I found only two or three items on ebay for Classic Woman, no information on the label from the sellers, and the clothes were not particularly enticing to look at nor tempting to buy.

The Waistcoat With Palm Trees & Parrots From Shein (and straw hat) post 582 from Angela Lansbury

As you might expect  The St Luke's price was £3. I googled waistcoat, Shein, parrot, and the exact sme garment appeared immediately. The Shein model was wearing it over a white crop top with short denim shorts. The price was ten pounds plus three pounds postage. But as a new customer or returning customer (eg after a gap of several weeks not ordering) you might get offered free postage.  I like the fact that the patterns on the right and left mirror each other as if the parrots are about to speak to each other. Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
