Multi-Pocket Coats

On a bus in London this coat caught my eye. I liked the pocket on the sleeve. The wearer told me she liked the two pockets at above waist level. They keep your hands warm and comfy.


Two more pockets below waist level are huge, ipad size, and protectively padded. We counted the pockets. Two on the left sleeve. two above the waist. Two below the waist. Two inside. Eight altogether.

That makes it practical for those who want to travel light, without a heavy bag. Also for those who want to take lots of stuff. For example, for an overnight or weekend stay away from home. Or a travel trip on a budget airline which charges for luggage, by weight or volume.  

A padded coat is already so bulky that nobody would notice if you wore multiple clothes underneath. For my evening out in near xero temperatures, I wore a skirt over trousers, two half slips, two vests, a white blouse, a thick |Marks and Spencer knitted long sleeve jumper and an Indogo Moon jacket embroidered with sequins. And a hat consisting of a scarf sewn onto knitted beanie, with a white baseball cap with a brim, held together with three mock-pearl brooches.

The company has lots of variations, with hoods, in camel colour, black, red and more. 

This coat's hood fastened on with a zip. The mock fur edging could be removed. It was fastened with what the owner called snaps. Snaps is American for what the British call press studs.

The new coats in February 2026 cost around £100 and up. But in their winter sale I found a coat reduced from over a hundred pounds to 76. Also ten per cent off your first order on signing up. You might also get free or discounted postage.

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours. Advantages and Disadvantages of Red and White Stripes I like red. It's fun. White can show dirt quickly.  Red and white is a bit restrictive. It will clash with patterns, only go with plain reds and whites. But under a table at dinner or on Zoom nobody else will notice. Nor will I. I will only feel them.
