Buying Bargains

I bought this, caught this, in St Luke's charity shop in London. Pre-loved as they say nowadays. New words are created all the time. Euphemisms. Enchanting words. Words which add pleasure to purchases. Gaining a bargain, a gift to oneself. Not second hand, but first love, new to me. Dress of the Day.

First I look for colour. When I look down at my skirt, or sleeve, of my cuffs, what excites my eyes!

Looking For The Label

F & F is Tesco. A long dress. I like a long dress. Long dresses have many advantages. No need to shave legs. Disguise for fat legs, lumpy knees, fat ankles. Don't show so much when going upstairs on buses or escalators.

Look neat. Make you look taller.

No need to waste time matching tops and skirts. No risk of finding that what looked like a match in dark light the night before is a clash in daylight.

The Green Cape Blazer Or Slit Sleeve Jacket

It is not a proper cape. Just a slit sleeve. Less cover. Less fabric. Less weight.

Looks elegant from in front. But easily turns inside out and has to be pulled across your shoulder. Still, it's light weight, Space saving. Easy to carry. Easy to pack.

Jacket/blazer Label - Shein

You can buy these jackets on Amazon and online at prices from under ten pounds to over forty. Some sellers offer postage free, whilst others charge high postage. So I found several at just under twenty pounds including the postage.

Some of them had different prices for different colours or sizes. So if I wasn't fussy about colour, Io just wanted to add another colour to my stock, I could order a rusty brown at about  seven pounds. Pink for another pound. But over forty pounds from another supplier if I wanted red.

'You Look Good' Mirror Decal

I searched for  'you look good mirror' and found that what I was offered instead was a decal to stick on mirrors. That's great. I could stick it on any long mirror, at home. (Or elsewhere for a photo shoot.)

I was astonished at the prices. The decal cost over twenty pounds for something I thought should have coat about five pounds - or less!

Just a large novelty sticker. You could almost print it yourself.

Despite the price, some buyers, reviewing on websites, seemed happy. If the surprise doesn't wear off, and it continues to make you smile every day or every time you read it, a piece of positive self-suggestion is good for morale and appearance. As is often said, you remember the quality long after you have forgotten the price.

Add a smile, as a result of reading this. 'The most important thing to wear is a smile.' Who said that? Was it Coco Chanel? I read that once and never forgot the thought.
