For the Parigi dress, described yesterday, update written 28th July 2026

I have been looking at the Parigi dress and jacket, wondering how to link the two sides of the jacket.
I can move the button. However, that would only be one inch. 

It isn't edge to edge. More like open front.

I could move the button to the end of a piece of bright, shiny, dark pink ribbon. I could cut a piece from the wide doubled waist of the jacket. I could cut a piece from the hem of the lining of the skirt.

Adding Ribbon

Adding a piece of ribbon would cause the least damage to the appearance of the outfit on the hanger, and the way it hangs on the wearer.

One ribbon would hang awkwardly when not in use, unless it could be pinned back inside, or in a horizontal bar of thin ribbon inside the jacket. The alternative is to have the linking ribbon in two halves, to tie in a bow, instead of a button and button hole. 

Another option is to have a thin ribbon loop going from under the button to the buttonhole, through the buttonhole and back. You could keep it permanently there on a slider.

Modesty Piece Infill

The Anthony Sicari outfits often have a modesty piece behind the v neck of jacket. You could make one from a piece of pink fabric, or any colour fabric, even white or black, with horizontal stripes of pink ribbon. Alternatively, make a frame of pink ribbon, or a double frame, art deco style. 

Better Bows

If you cannot tie a neat bow, an alternative is a bow fixed on a ribbon, like some bow ties. Or buy a pink hair clip, which could hide the button on one side and the buttonhole on the other side. Or buy a set of pink bows, one on the link piece, two others on the base of each shoulder strap.

Cutting Hanging Straps

The hanging straps are white, matt, cloth. Sometimes you can cut off part of one or both hanging ribbons, if they match well, but not in this case.

I was wearing a rainbow dress and put on the jacket just to test the jacket fit. To my surprise and delight, the jacket matched the dress. The jacket felt light, like the summer dress.  
Despite being chiffon, the jacket looks and feels right with rainbow colour shift dress.
No need to add a link. The gap in the middle shows the rainbow colours of the dress.
Now I wonder whether the jacket was designed to be worn open, showing the embroidered pendant on the Parigi dress.

In that case, why did they bother to put on a buttonhole and button? Never mind the original plan. I now have a multi-purpose jacket. No need to add a ribbon link. It shows off the design of whatever dress or top I am wearing with it. Problem solved. Parigi jacket problem solved.

Stripey Red & White Socks, thigh high, and tights - outfit 679 by Angela Lansbury

  I bought a pair of knee high red and white stripe socks in St Luke's charity shop. At one pound or under, you can't lose much. (Their charity fundraising shops are in NW London in Hatch End, Harrow Weald and elsewhere.) Why did I buy the long socks, in hard to match, garish, childish, stripes - after hesitation and consideration? The Advantages Of Long Socks The  length was attractive, at this time of year. I often need long socks under a midi skirt. For warmth in winter. And not to show bit of bare legs above socks. To co-ordinate colours.
