Dress Of The Day with Angela

 When I bought and brought home my orange Lidl dress, it was creased. I wore it. I thought the colour was great and the creses did not matter. Who knew how washing might ruin it? I wore it with the creases. Iwas fine with it. The family didn't mind. However, the pictures lookd awful. Later thaat day I washed it. To my amazement, firstly, the colours did not run. Secondly - it was almost dry by evening! a great dress to take on holiday. Wash and wear in a hurry.  This is the after picture. This was the before picture of me wearing the dress.. Seller's ebay photo.  I ordered this from ebay. I usually go for the three-piece Anthony Sicari outfits.  Why go for three pieces matching? They make me look smart, elegant, co-ordinated, a top with wide shoulders, which was even more important when I was size 16, on a good day, in 2020, before I started slimming for health and safety during Covid,  I wroe it with  double closure sandals. Made in Hungary. Their colour is pale brown. How lon would it be on me? Not long enough for a dress. A flmsy skirt on a teenager could be that short. But not a warm, thick, autumn or winter gamrent.  My husband gradgingly allowed me to buy the orange dress at LIDL, the bright orange dress. Only 7.99 GBP.  But I have items arriving by post (mail to Americans) which he sees. He also sees my PayPal notifications. Paypal tells me how much I spend every month..  He said, "If you spend twenty pounds a week on clothes, that's 1040 pounds a year. (For Clothes, underwear, shows, hats,  etc.  Ten pounds a day on clothes would be  300 a month (thirty day months), A whopping 3650 pounds a year. Change the pounds to dollars or any other currency and multipolying by 50 weeeks a year or 165 days times ten units of currency, you can reach a similar proportion of money sums. Some people look at it by starting with what you earn in a month. If you are earning nothing, retired, just enough to cover your bills and holidays, you might be in too recycling your clothes, or selling some items in order to fund buying others. Plain simple dresses. Clear colours. Bright colours. Years ago, my mother would not have allowed me to buy a dress which was gathered, or anything with rick-rack braid. She would have said, no dtyling, no cut. Tht is what you put on bsbies. For adults women you need cut to make a fitted dress which enhances the curved or th breadst, wais,t hips and bottom. The Orange Dress Oh, well. I saw the orange dress in Lidl. I loved the colour. I had to have it. The size is ten. Slightly small for me. If you wear a long0sleeves thermal vest under it, the arms feel too tight. Esmara The label is Esmara. This is the Lidl brand. I love Anthony Sicari outfits because the wide sleeves alays fit me whatever my weight and girth. I also love the colour red So, when I saw a red Anthoy Sicari outfit on ebay, I had to have it. I buy a lot of outfits. Most are in the USA. I ponder a long time because of the high cost of postage. Sometimes the price comes down. I buy.  Despite the additional cost of postage fro the USA to the UK. The Short Sicari Skirt  Size 4 USA is very small. I tried wearing it as you see here, with the skirt lowered.  I let don the hem twice and made the skirt longer. The Black bucket hat The black hat is a rinabow colour hat turned inside out.

  My friend is wearing this lovely red dress from Peacocks. Her bag picks up the warm red-orange colour. At swanwick I played the part of an old lady objecting to being bossed about in an old people's home. What could I wear? I went to the conference centre bedroom block and looked at the clothes in my bedroom. I chose a cotton night dress. Blue with a white lace neckline. Please share links to your favouritecposts. When I was notified of sale items I searched for dress and matching jacket. I really wanted a long dress and elegant matching coat, at under twenty pounds. Most of them were just a bit beyond my budget  I bought a couple of them, not in the colours I wanted of red or pink or orange. The were not in my price or not in my size. So I opted for blue and purple. Then this popped up with a shorter jacket in orange and I was tempted and succumbed. The dress was long for me. So long that I would have tripped up. Luckily I had tried on all my outfits as I packed, and seeing that I needed a belt, I found A wide black belt. I packed a long black ribbon, which I could tie in a bow. I asked her what she wrote or hoped to write. Poetry. So I told her the titles of my books of poetry and on how to write poetry. I suggested she follow me to the book room, have a free look at my books. If she took a fancy to one of them and bought it I would sign it for her. She bought two books.

 I was impressed by this striking colourful dress with the matching hat. It is African style, made with cloth from Nigeria. The girl wearing it told me her aunt had sewn it for her using Nigerian cloth, brought back from Nigeria.  The hat is a piece of cloth, or scarf, would around and tied. If you like colourful Nigerian or African style dresses and colourful hats, you can find several websites selling them online. African Turban Hat Patterns I was very interested in African hats in various colourful patterns. When you look at the dramatic hats, they often reveal that the had is supplied simply as a piece of cloth.  My vintage Anthony Sicari outfit. Probably bought in the eighties. The outfit consists of three matching pieces. The Skirt The skirt, or dress with a thin, white sleeveless top holding the plated skirt in place.  The skirt is pleated. I am not thrilled with pleats. In theory, you can remove the skirt, convert it into a wrap skirt, and still have spare fabric for a scarf or headband or belt or all three.  I have done that with free secondhand garments which were too small on the hips at the join, so I had to remove the skirt. Since the garment was free, and unwearable as it was, I had nothing to lose and everything to gain. However, this outfit fits perfectly. It cost a lot. I am not going to risk ruining it, nor having it in pieces whilst    I am too busy to finish it. The Matching Top The blue knitted body of the top, with wide sleeves in the same fabric as the skirt.  The Bonus Scarf A matching scarf is what completes the co-ordinated look, makes it look finished.  1 You do a double knot from both directions, with the right and left threads.  2 But pull the knot down over a toothpick or awl or even a fork tine.  3 Secure with glue. What is jewelry glue? (Be sure not to glue your fingertips together!) 4 Leave the glue for 24 hours. 5 Hide the knot under a bead. So it is both hidden and extra secure. They say two times in this video. I would say twice. Another lady has a no glue method. She recommends doubling a thinner thread. 5. Jewelry glue or jeweler's glue does not degrade with water or heat. If you want to search online for a dress or other garment with a zip, or to replace a zip, or to speak on the phone to a shop or seller, remember that American say and write zipper. So if you break the tab, on American websites, or those aimed at American buyers, look for the word zipper. Zip up dresses are wonderful. They are quick to put on. No buttons to lose.  No decision making about a top matching a skirt or trousers (Americans call trousers pants.)  I like a zip at the front. easy to put on. gives you the option of lowering the zip if you are hot. The style is called bucket shape. Brimmed.  It needs hat elastic sewn on to stop it from floating off in a gust of wind, or looking down over water or a steep drop. The hat pattern is vertical stripes. The brim has horizontal stripes. Although the stipes do not do the way way as the tee-shirt's horizontal stripes, I think they go well together.
