Yellow and green genuine leather ankle boots

Image
Yellow leather ankle boots with yellow and green petal sewn on flowers. Photo by Angela Lansbury.  Copyright. I already have both red books and black boots in this style. They get constant compliments. The inside sole of one of my boots wore down. I covered it with a loose inner sole cut to fit. I looked online. My inner sole seemed a success. But I still needed to check the availability of a replacement. Since the red pair was still wearable, why not buy another colour. In previous years I had rejected the yellow version, because it would match fewer outfits and probably get dirty and shabby quicker, with less chance of an inconspicuous repair, using paint-on black leather touch up. I put the yellow ones I found at two different prices into the out tray or cart on a couple of websites on my laptop. However, when I looked later, the dearer one had already sold out. When I found the cheaper one available, I decided to make a purchase straight away. I worried whether 38 would ...

Disguising holes in a jumper

Image
The jumper label is Radley. It had three holes. I sewed them up with white cotton. You would hardly notice. See Through Tops However the two marks in the centre are the buttons on the blouse worn underneath. To preserve the neat effect of the collar, instead of changing to another blouse, I could add a white tie.

NeonySweets, workout leggings with pockets

Image
These leggings have two great advantages.  Pockets Leony Sweets leggings pockets. Photo by Angela Lansbury. Copyright. Number one is the pockets. I love pockets. The pockets are small, but stretch big enough for my smartphone in its case Lying neat and flat, the pockets are big enough for a paper hanky (Americans say tissue}.But any pocket is better than no pocket. I think I must have found these in the one pound rummage box in St Luke's Hospice charity shop in Hatch End. I would have looked at them and thought, pretty pattern, too small for me, wait a minute, great pockets, maybe I can cut them out and add them to another garment. Only one pound. Cheaper than buying pockets. Or use them as decoration.  When I got home I tried on the leggings and was amazed that I could just about get into them. They were so stretchy. Tummy Control As for the tummy control, for me the main advantage was not the appearance, but that I felt comfortable with my tummy held in. No exercise w...

Bonmarché beaded, emboidered top with Infigo Moon jacket 654 by Angela Lansbury

Image
Photo by Trevor Sharot. The Indigo Moon Jacket Indigo Moon clothes are made in India and feature brightly coloured embroidery and beads and sequins. Eye-catching and fun.  I had been looking for something to co-ordinate with my dark brown, beaded, embroidered Indigo Moon jacket. Sorting Summer Clothes I was sorting through short sleeved, old fashioned, boring never worn outfits to store in suitcases or boxes to go into storage. As usual, every time I put three items in the storage section, a minute later I rescued one of them because it went with something else. Beaded Bonmarch é  Top The short-sleeved top was a good candidate for my out of season, sit in storage until next spring or summer selection. Then I spotted the beads. Big bold cut glassy beads. Teeny ant trails, lines of small tubular beads following along tramlines of pinched material, called pintucks. Just like Indigo Moon decoration. The Label  Bonmarch é The label on the top was Bonmarch é . French for...

Nothing to wear? Solutions, storing summer clothes, and layering - a poem by Angela Lansbury

Image
I haven't got a thing to wear I've bought two wigs, and dyed my hair The real problem's my summer clothes My winter ones are lost in those I can't shop wearing a swimsuit A swim hat looks wrong buying fruit Stained item? Cut, make patch, or rag Lost button! Throw in the sew bag I see my red Christmas jumper Found my old favourite number Sorting your life's good for the soul I'm pleased and proud I'm in control Instead of wasting all my time Browsing to buy more clothes on line I view my spare room as a treasure A home jumble sale of pleasure Would I wear dull old things in grey? I ought to throw them all away No, sell them. Yes, another day I don't have enough time today Stuff summer clothes in spare suitcase To store them in some other place An attic, basement, spare room drawer? Or boxes in a Shurgard store Make sure each suitcase has a label Photograph them if you're able Match up the colours, fold or roll In a cardboard box, tote bag, bowl Sorti...

Anthony Sicari Blue outfit number 652 by Angela Lansbury

Image
Two great features about Anthony Sicari outfits. The wide armholes and upper arms and stretch knits mean every outfit from this brand will fit me whatever my current size. I have bought two pieces top and skirt without the scarf and some tops with red or black which will easily be matched with other items. If I see a top alone and it is cheap I bid on it or buy it. However, I prefer the three piece outfits with top, skirt and matching scarf. Saves time. Looks co-ordinated and efficient. Makes me feel in control and confident. Although I am not keen on the angular lines, which do not match my physique, and convey a strict businesslike subtle message, the curves help soften the pattern. The mixture of soothing blue and warm red hues plus the black gives three options of colours for co-ordinating accessories.  The White Blouse This blouse is my current favourite. The collar stays in place. Looks like I am well organized. The skirt has two pockets. I fastened the tie scarf with ...

Purple Indigo Moon Top - Perfected dress of the day 651 with Erfo Blouse And Marks Leggings by Angela Lansbury

Image
Photos by Angela Lansbury. The Purple Top I ordered this online from ebay. It was XS, extra small, yet is quite big enough, quite large on me.  When I opened the packet, I wasn't sure if I liked the purple fabric, but I liked the turquoise and silver sequins. I was pleased that the sequin pattern was repeated on the back. I think front-only printing often looks cheap, as if the manufacturer or seller has economized on the quality of the cloth and the effort of lining up the pattern and not wasting fabric.  On the other hand, what is missing from Indigo Moon garments? Pockets. I shall manage. I usually wear a vest or jacket with pockets.  Any other hesitations, buyers's remorse? Also sequins on the back might damage something else. Clothes, such as a jacket or coat or scarf worn on top. What about the chair or car seat when you sit and lean backwards? What about tearing the fabric if you rest on a couch or bed for a nap? That hasn't stopped me from buying several In...

Scarf and dress pins with imitation pearls, post 650 by Angela Lansbury

Image
Photo by Angela Lansbury I ordered these on line. I picked a mixture of black and white pearls, and more than one size, as few of the hatpin type as possible. They look very pretty. Will they go through fabrics easily and without making holes? And stay fastened? I shall update later. Update November 11th, 2025. The smallest pin is good for scarves and goes through finer fabric easily. Not only holds your tie scarf in place. Also stops it falling off and getting lost. Feedback to Manufacturer and Myself I found a picture showing red and green pins and ordered from that supplier. See the small pin used to fasten a tie scarf in post 652.

It is long, thick and warm in cold weather.

Roses theme from a Tesco sale in 1999 post 648 by Angela Lansbury

Image
I saw this love outfit on the train coming into Tottenham Court Road station  The white jacket mirrors the lady's hair. The pink roses pattern is on the jacket, the top underneath, and her bag.  She said she bought it in the sale in Tesco in 1999. What a memory. Can you remember which clothes you bought then? Of course I cannot check. After I got off the trsin I looked back and could see her smiling to herself. What are the lessons learned? Look for matching sets when a theme is in vogue. Look in Tesco supermarket big store sales. Pay people complements. Please share links to your favourite posts.

New (to me) Label Quacker Factory With Embellishments, Compared With Indigo Moon, post 646 by Angela Lansbury

Image
I found Quacker Factory clothes while hunting for fun items with sequins  They use rhinestones, all sorts of embellishments and styles.  I was searching on ebay for my current (2025) favourite label, Indigo Moon.  Indigo Moon Advantage Their clothes are made in bright, strong colours. The colours are enhanced by sparkly sequins and bright beads. Just right for appearing on stage and being the speaker, poet, comedian or master of ceremonies (MC for short) or Toastmaster. Up popped a new to me label, Quacker Factory.  Quacker Factory Spelling At first glance it looks like quaker, but it's got an added c in the middle.  How do they compare with Indigo Moon?  Place of Origin - Indigo Moon Label Indigo Moon clothes are made in India. Both words, India and Indigo start with the same four letters, Indi.  Quacker Factory clothes are made, manufactured, in China. How can I remember this? Both words, Quacker and China contain the letters c and a. Indigo Moon Emb...
